6 Mistakes Token Teams Make on Binance Alpha

The short version: most Binance Alpha mistakes are made in the market, not in the application. Pools too thin for the countdown, liquidity split across pools, unlocks in the first month, farmed holders and faked activity all show up in the numbers Binance keeps reviewing: liquidity depth, trading stability, on-chain activity and holder distribution.
This list comes from the desk side. At EchoTrade we've supported more than 2,000 token launches, including more than 40 on Binance Alpha, and these are the six problems we're asked to fix most often. Four more common ones (budgeting only for the showcase, treating the airdrop as free, spending on reach before depth and booking the Market Maker late) are covered in what a Binance Alpha launch costs.
1. Treating selection as the finish line
Binance keeps reviewing Alpha tokens after they're featured, and removes the ones that fall short.
The review framework was introduced in March 2025. According to Cointelegraph's report, its quantitative criteria are trading volume stability, liquidity depth, frequency of on-chain transactions and distribution of holders. The qualitative ones include team credibility, regulatory compliance and community. Binance has removed tokens in several rounds since.
All four quantitative numbers are measured in the weeks after the countdown, not during it. A good 24 hours followed by a thin book in week three still reads as a thin book. That's why the depth plan has to cover the months after Alpha, not only the showcase.
2. Sizing the pool so Binance users' orders fail
On Alpha, a thin pool doesn't only move the price. It can make Binance users' orders fail.
Binance's own Alpha explainer says Alpha 2.0 orders run through on-chain markets, and that a transaction is automatically cancelled if the minimum received amount drops below what the interface showed. Quick Buy also raises slippage automatically when a user retries, which can get the order through at a worse price.
So when the countdown wave hits a pool that's too small, two things happen at once: some buyers get failed orders, and the ones who retry pay more. On the Alpha launches we support, the heaviest order flow arrives in the first hours after the countdown, so that's the window the pool has to be sized for.

3. Splitting launch liquidity across several pools
Put most of the launch liquidity in one pool. Spreading it across several leaves each one thin.
On the diagnostic calls we take, we regularly see teams seed the same pair on two or three DEXs, or across several fee tiers on one DEX, so the token "looks available everywhere". Each pool then holds a fraction of the depth. Routers can split an order across pools, but every extra hop adds cost, and every thin pool is a separate place for the price to gap.
Pick one main pool on the chain your token lives on, put most of the launch liquidity there, and add others only once the main one holds steady. If a second pool has to exist, decide in writing who keeps the two prices together.
4. Putting an unlock inside the first 30 days
Check the vesting calendar against the showcase date before you agree to the date.
A team, investor or ecosystem cliff that lands two or three weeks after Alpha meets a market where showcase demand has already faded. On top of that, Alpha Box and airdrop tokens are still being sold. That's three sources of supply in one month, against falling demand. We've seen good launches lose their book exactly this way.
There are three fixes: move the cliff, turn it into a linear release, or size the depth for that week specifically. How the first unlock hits an order book is covered in the first token unlock after TGE, and the supply side of planning is in our tokenomics guide.
5. Counting Alpha Box claimers as your community
A wallet that claimed your token isn't necessarily a holder. Many claimers sell what they receive, and that's a large part of the sell pressure after the showcase.
Alpha Box and Alpha airdrops reward users who've built Alpha Points, and many of them take part for the event rather than the project. On the Alpha launches we've supported, claimed tokens reach the market fast. Binance itself has had to act against bot farming in the Alpha Points program. A holder count on day one says how many wallets claimed. It doesn't say how many will still hold in two weeks.
Track the second number. Size the liquidity for the claimers who sell, and aim the community work at the ones who stay. Holder distribution is one of Binance's review criteria, and it's measured on the wallets still holding.

6. Faking activity to get noticed
Buying volume, renting holders or paying someone who "guarantees" an Alpha slot doesn't get a token selected or keep it there.
Binance selects Alpha tokens itself, and the numbers it reviews are the ones fake activity distorts: transaction frequency, trading stability and holder distribution. In June 2025 Binance said it had upgraded its risk controls after detecting bot activity in the Alpha Points program. And no agency, launchpad or Market Maker controls selection.
What a team can control is whether the token is worth featuring: a product people use, a community that talks about it, real on-chain activity, and a market that holds when attention arrives.
What does a token launch strategist add before Binance Alpha?
A note from Jatin Saini, Token Launch Strategist at Web3 Jatin, who helps Web3 founders become TGE-ready.
"My advice to founders preparing for Binance Alpha is simple: get your token fundamentals right before focusing on the listing.
Your token supply should be designed to avoid excessive sell pressure from large unlocks, while its utility should create genuine, recurring demand that doesn't depend on speculation.
A listing can bring visibility and traders, but it cannot fix flawed tokenomics or give a token a reason to exist. Without strong fundamentals, your token risks becoming a speculative asset that eventually loses relevance, regardless of what you do afterward."

How do you check a token is ready for Binance Alpha?
Six questions, one per mistake, answered before the countdown.
- Is the market planned for months, not for the 24 hours?
- Is the main pool deep enough for the first hour of Quick Buy orders?
- Is most of the launch liquidity in one pool?
- Is there any unlock in the first 30 days, and is the depth sized for it?
- Are you tracking holders at two weeks, not only on day one?
- Is every bit of on-chain activity real?

FAQ
What is the most common mistake on Binance Alpha?
Preparing for the 24-hour showcase and not for what comes after it. Binance keeps reviewing Alpha tokens on liquidity depth, trading stability, on-chain activity and holder distribution, and all of those are decided in the weeks after the countdown.
Why do Binance Alpha orders fail?
Alpha 2.0 orders execute on-chain, and Binance cancels a transaction automatically if the minimum received amount drops below what the interface showed. Thin pools and fast price moves make that more likely.
Can a token be removed from Binance Alpha?
Yes. Binance runs a review framework and removes tokens that fall short on criteria including liquidity depth, trading volume stability, on-chain transaction frequency and holder distribution. Removed tokens can usually still be sold, but they lose the featured placement.
Do Alpha Box airdrops create sell pressure?
Often, yes. Many claimers take part for the points reward and sell what they receive. Plan liquidity for that selling, and measure holders after two weeks rather than on the day of the claim.
Can anyone guarantee a Binance Alpha listing?
No. Binance selects Alpha tokens itself. A team, an agency or a Market Maker can help prepare the token, but nobody outside Binance controls selection. Alpha tokens do have much larger chances of a later Binance listing than tokens outside the program, but that's never guaranteed either.
When should a project start preparing for Binance Alpha?
Three to six months ahead for community and product, and four to six weeks ahead for the Market Maker, the pool and the inventory. The vesting calendar should be checked before the showcase date is agreed.
